My Story

Hello!
I have enjoyed drawing since childhood and was influenced by many artistic family members. I did well in high school art classes and wanted to major in Art Education college. My first art professor said that my style was too realistic and I wouldn't make it as an artist, so I changed my major to Special Education. In hindsight, it was good advice as I have had a rewarding career teaching students with special needs for 28 years. In May 2016, I began drawing again when my husband gifted me with art lessons from the talented artist and coach, Bob Carter. Things have progressed since then, and my work has been shown in a variety of art exhibitions and venues throughout Tampa, Florida.

I enjoy creating detailed photo-realistic paintings. I choose a variety of themes that people of all ages and backgrounds can relate to, and I draw the images in a way that resemble their appearance as closely as possible. Colored pencils are my favorite medium, but I also use chalk pastels, graphite pencils and markers.

I hope my art will remind people to stop and pay attention to the familiar things in our world that they might otherwise overlook. I also hope my art inspires curiosity about the creative process and an appreciation for colored pencil as a fine art medium.

Thank you for visiting!

Due to Covid-19 breakout we have taken our gallery virtual. Gallery images will be uploaded on the first Friday of every to our Instagram account discodolls_art. We have a revolving local art gallery with a new artist every month. Our goal is to give artists from all backgrounds a place to explore an idea, or have their first solo show, as well as see the community's reaction and interaction with their art. Anyone can be an art collector and the best way to do this is to buy what you like, and buy local art. Through our art gallery we hope to give artists a platform to show their work in a thoughtful manner and in a relaxed environment.
