And On That Farm There was...


...a cow, a pig and a donkey.  For these drawings, I wanted to experiment and practice with color and light.  Having an understanding of where a light source is coming from and where if forms the shadows is a way to add expression and interest to the subject. 


Color and light are important tools for an artist, but the concepts can be quite complex.

I would recommend a great book called "Color and Light" by James Gurney for any artist who is interested in learning how light interacts with color.  

All three of these drawings were done on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper with various brands of colored pencils and a few oil pastels.  Which one is your favorite?
