Hello! I'm trying to get better at updating my blog each time I finish a project. I'm continuing with my "Wonder Years" series, and I've titled this one Boy Blowing Bubbles. Not very creative, I know. I used mostly Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils on Canson Mi Teintes paper. I have used Mi Teintes paper for pastels in the past, but I've never used it for colored pencils. My intention when I first started the project was to use more soft pastels than colored pencils, which is why I chose the paper. But I didn't use the pastels because the Prismacolors worked beautifully with the paper. I'm always looking for ways to speed things up, and this time I mixed Caran D'Ache Neocolor 2 wax pastels with the pencils for the base layer of the dark green background and the grass. After I applied the pencils and wax pastels, I blended them together. For those of you interested, I usually blend the Neo2's first and add the pencils on top. The Neo2's are water soluble and the colored pencils aren't, and you're supposed to blend the Neo2's with water. But odorless mineral spirits worked to blend both mediums together at once. For the grass I used the Neo2/Colored Pencil combo and then added Pan Pastels on top. So there you have it!
Until Next Time,
Michele
