First Communion - Pastel Portrait

My niece recently had her first communion around the same time as her ninth birthday. I took the opportunity to draw her portrait and surprise her with it has a gift.

Painting portraits of children and young adults are different than adults and elderly people, because the proportions of their features are different and not as pronounced. I always enjoy learning how to draw something new.

I updated my website and added a portrait gallery to share my work. When I feel confident enough, I may begin taking portrait commissions.

In other news...I'm working on a new note card series called Rise and Shine.  Any idea what the subjects will be?....Stay tuned to find out!
